CampingBlowdownRocky

Beautiful views along the way. Moderate with a few patches of hard steep spots, lots of tree damage right around McDill Point but the trail is clear enough. Would give this a five but the biggest issue is trail marking. Map at trailhead said Pinhoti is orange (never saw orange). Followed baby blue blazes most of the way, as well as closely checking the All Trails map. Still got off several times, especially going over large rocks. Just be aware that it is really easy to get on a side trail and just keep going. Took us four hours total with a lot of stops for pictures and a little picnic and a somewhat out-of-shape woman.

HikingBlowdownGreat!

Roughly 1 hour up and 1 hour down plus time to enjoy the views. Did this on a Friday, so not busy at all. McDill Point was beautiful and there were a couple of other nice vistas along the way. A portion of the trial sustained some damage (downed trees mostly) from a recent storm, but easy to avoid everything that hasn’t been cleaned up yet; the damage is mostly centered around what’s labeled McDill Point on the map (not the actual vista).

The fall colors were nothing like what was shown on the cheaha park website. with that though i love this place and had a great trip. the trail is actually over 5 miles out and back. very rocky, definitely closer to hard because of the incline and rocks. we went early. it was very windy and raining but stopped about 30 or so minutes after being on trail. to begin with it was extremely foggy and couldnt hardly see anything but it cleared up. the views are wonderful. we got off trail at one point but the map made it easy to get back on track.

Awesome trail with great views. As others have said, a map is helpful on this one and there are several places where you have to climb over or under fallen trees. Overall, the views are very much worth it. There are many campsites along the way. I only hiked to McDill Point and back, but you could easily go further and make this an overnight backpacking trip.

Beware of the path splitting multiple times, you can easily end up on the wrong trail or lost if you don't pay attention. SO beautiful at the top, the whole trail is quite magical. Can be overgrown in parts but it really made you feel like you were one with the woods. Glad I wore long pants though.

Pretty over grown. Nice views though. Might benefit from a gps. Some parts of trails not clearly marked. Easy to accidentally take a side trail and get turned around.

We continually got lost. We somehow turned the 4.7 miles into 9. The trail is poorly marked and poorly maintained. However, the peaks and crash site were super cool to see!
