Gulf Oak Ridge Trail is a 5.5 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Gulf Shores, Alabama that features a lake and is good for all skill levels. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
This wooded trail is shared by hikers and cyclists and ends at a sports complex (starts from the golf course). There are lots of nice Spanish moss-covered water oak trees and a variety of ecosystems along the way. Accessibility: There are 2 designated accessible spaces in the paved parking lot off of State Park 2/Refuge Road at the west end of the trail. Both of them are van-accessible with striped access aisles. The trail surface is pavement/boardwalk (with railings), and typically at least 5 feet wide. There is a painted dividing line along some of the trail which reduces the width. The estimated grade is mostly gentle (5% or less). This trail will likely be navigable for most trail goers using wheelchairs/mobility equipment or strollers. There are benches along the route for resting.
Great paved trail. A lot of nice scenery. Not totally flat but still easy.
Wonderful little 8 mile-2.5 hr trip. We rented the bikes for free and rode in the sprinkling rain. Weather was chilly, a nice compliment to our soft hoodies and rain coats. Adorable bridges, creeks, lakes, parks, and outdoors to see around every corner. Beautiful mossy trees hang over the smoothly paved bike trail. Would definitely recommend for a family outing, or for a fun and romantic date like what we had today.
Overcast but still beautiful! Trails are VERY well maintained. Lots of bikers, bikes available to rent. Well trafficked but COVID safe.
This is a marvelous trail system! I can’t believe I’ve lived here all my life and just discovered how great this trail system is. We went on a perfect November day. Genoa were in the 60’s, sunshine and no humidity. This is a great trail system for biking, but also jogging or walking. It is also very accessible for people whom need to use a wheelchair. I highly recommend it.
My two dogs and I enjoyed the trail. Started on this trail and connected onto a few other. The water stations were a mush for the pups in August on the Gulf Coast. The only drawback was the devil flies. They're ruthless. Otherwise has a great time. Saw a couple gators
Gulf Oak Ridge Trail is a very good walking trail. The trail is 5.9 miles from parking lot to sports complex and back to parking lot. The trail is paved, very level and has park benches about every 100 yards. It also has water at 2 miles. If you hike from the parking lot there is many different ego systems within the first 1 mile.I would take my friends on at least the first mile and return to the parking lot. Anyone can make and enjoy the first mile.

Other than getting caught in the rain it was wonderful :D if you must come while it’s raining, I would suggest bringing a coat and gloves for your hands because it got cold real quick! My hands were so stiff! you can’t see it but I’m typing really slowly... haha anyway, it was an exhilarating hike nonetheless.
Beautiful trail. Lots of Spanish Moss covered Water Oak Trees. Breezy and shaded during morning hours. One of more natural beauty trails. If you are footing it do watch for cyclists, it’s obviously one of the more popular trails, but everyone on a bike was friendly and let you know they are coming up on you.
We did a long run in the park and loved it. Started at 6 with the sunrise and wouldn’t want to go much later due to heat. Absolutely pristine paved trails and boardwalks that clearly are well taken care of. Well marked trails with many maps at trail intersections. Very good sunset or sunrise overlook between the .5 and 1 mile marks. Much of this section of the park was under live oaks with Spanish moss. The heat is the only thing that makes this a moderate trail though. Even with the slight elevation change the paths are wide and paved and pretty flat so I mark this easy. The flies were bad but running helped that.
One of the best sections of the entire trail system. Lots of curves and elevation changes with a nice woodland trail surrounded by moss covered live oaks and Longleaf Pine.
