Give yourself plenty of time for this. The terrain is rough and rocky in many places. I only saw water in one place on the Chinabee trail. Dry creeks on all other trail except the Pihoti. There are possible bear signs in a couple places and feral hog destruction on a section of the cave creek trail.

Great trail. Be aware of lots of humidity of hiking in the summer. Start early to stay cool. There is a campground where you can stay + start out. Small fee required. Some parts of this trail were somewhat overgrown so I would definitely wear long pants if you have them. Lots of little campsites with fire rings throughout the loop. Some phone service (AT&T) once you hit top of ridge line. I did this trail with my GPS, and because you go across so many trails, it is really helpful to have a GPS with you. This being said, the trail markers were very helpful, as long as you know which trail you needed to get on to. A very pretty overlook exists on the south-west edge of the loop! A water source did exists for us on loop (Mill Shoal Creek) see USGS map
