The best part of the trail was the huge waterfall and the creek. If you want to experience the waterfall area more, walk across the rocks and sit on them. If you follow the trail on AllTrails, it can be confusing with all the various trails at this park. To get your 2.5 miles or more in, here’s what you do. 1. Follow the directions straight from AllTrails. It leads you right to the waterfall trail and you’re smack right there at the waterfall. Walk down the hill to the waterfall. Enjoy some time there. 2. Walk back up the hill and take the Rock Bottom trail. It’ll loop you right around back to where you parked at for this trail. I did this and ended up doing 2.83 miles.

The AllTrails trail did not match the park markings. But the hike was fine. We could not figure out how to get across the stream beneath the waterfall.

It’s a really nice place but no marking on the trails, the person and at the gate is friendly but no help getting you started. Overall it’s a really nice and the bathrooms are clean.

This is not a loop. You cannot cross the river at the end where the waterfall is. So you have to go back around. Possibly if the water is way down could you cross, but I could not at the time I went.

I don’t think it’s possible to follow this trail 100%. But I was able to follow it close enough and re aligned with it at several points, namely the middle towards almost the end. I’m from California and I loved this hike, especially the end with the rocks to climb and there beautiful waterfall. It made me realize more of the beauty of Alabama. Fun hike and also plenty of other trails to TRY to follow - but not very well marked as far as I could tell. There is an entry fee and they provide maps and trail suggestions at the entrance.

First time trying any of Chewacla’s trails. Maps on site said the Falls View Trail is 1.5 miles, All Trails apparently called it State Park Trail and 2.5 miles. We started the trail at the first entrance on the right (past the welcome gate), and The trail bends back to the right around the corner of the lake. From there, we went up to the falls and got a view of it, then from there followed the map down to the creek, which had no clear sign of how to cross. Once we eventually got across, we bent back up towards the falls, but from there the trail markings were non-existent and we cut it short. Overall not strenuous at all, just needs better markings and a better understanding of how to get to the creek and across it once you pass the falls.

Trail wasn’t well marked and the creek was hard to cross below the falls. But a lovely walk in the woods!
