I didn’t do the whole Bump Trail because there was a mountain bike race on the trail the day I went so I did the Treetop Nature Trail (.5 mile family friendly walk with exhibits of rescued raptors) to the Yellow Trail, also called the Foothills Trail, ending at Lake Tranquility. This route intersected me with the Bump Trail a few times. There were some elevation gains on the Yellow Trail that added a challenging touch, and in many areas you truly get the feeling of being by yourself in the woods. The Yellow Trail winds you multiple times near and over a very scenic creek, so if you’re a “fill as you go” hiker you’ll have plenty of opportunities for water refills or to just get you hat wet to cool off like I did. The trail looks like it ends at a picnic area because of a downed bridge but a short walk around reveals a second bridge. Continuing on this trail takes you to the Lake Tranquility dam, which you approach via a trail next to the dam’s spillway which makes for a nice waterfall, and the trail wraps around the small lake for more great scenery.
