Slight grade at the beginning, but the trail itself is clear and well used/marked. It levels off and continues out to the power line pass where there is a good view of both the Huntsville side and Owen's Crossroads side of the mountain. The last half of the trail is pretty flat through the woods.

Sunset is amazing here. Sunrise is also impressive.

Great view

Easy trail with a couple of good views. The beginning climb is fairly easy, then a pretty walk along a ridge line before you get to a couple of good view points. Trails are marked and cleared, also a couple of park benches. The first bench is at the top of the beginning climb. Great trail for a fall hike with the kiddos.

Great trail. Probably some of the best views of any trail in Huntsville at the top. Highly recommend for all skill levels.

After breaking away from the other trail heads his hike is STEEP. Not the easy hike I was looking for. After gaining the altitude at the beginning the hike becomes easy but that first part was a steady climb. On the way back I took the West Bluff Trail which gave the best views off the hill.

This trail is a good one that I do on a regular basis. There are several good lookouts, especially near the power line. Good trees for eno hammocks and I see people relaxing up there pretty frequently. My dog likes this trail a lot too.

Hiked the trail this week. The upper/southern end of the trail on the map (the part that angles around the 1476ft peak) is no longer accessible. A new privacy fence has been installed adjacent to the cellphone tower. This fence eliminates about 3/10 of a mile from the trail.

Steep in the beginning but a very easy path for trail running, well maintained!

Very well maintained and heavily used trail. One incline at the beginning but smooth after getting to the ridge. We hiked to the tower and then down Varnedoe back to the trailhead. Great trip for us.

I love this trail, especially at night when you reach the clearing. You are able to look the beautiful sight of the lights of Huntsville and little bit of Madison. There is also a small rock that you have to climb/jump onto where it is a great spot to Stargaze.

this trail starts out a bit difficult, but if you stay the course it levels off. then it's just a stoll in the woods. there are great views to be seen once you reach the bluffs

Great local trail. Ends in a beautiful view of Jones Valley on one side and Hampton Cove (I think) on the other side.

Probably one of my favorite quick in town hike-walks. For an experienced hiker this is definitely rated easy. The hike itself takes no time at all, but provides one of the best views of the Huntsville area once you get out to the power line pass area where the trees have been cleared. Worth checking out if you get a chance.

This is a great hike in the area. Once you get away from the road, it is very quiet and features lovely views. My boyfriend and I loved the benches at the overlooks where we could sit comfortably and enjoy the views. One short part of the trail was overgrown. Overall, very enjoyable hike. We'll be doing this one again.
