The path is marked clearly by wooden posts with a white band. The actual walk is mainly on off road paths apart from when you have to walk up the north side due to the lakeside railway, but the road is fairly quiet but can be is a stead climb up, as you pass a few houses the path veers right onto a track heading down hill, this is leads you down through woods towards the slate works passing a nice waterfall, some great views across to Snowdon. You eventually emerge at the Slate works Hospital and then it's down to the Railway station & slate museum - these tend to close at 5pm, the path follows the road out of the museum but bears right over a foot bridge, then right again over some grass.
