This is a beautiful, but potentially dangerous trail - the key to staying safe is to stay on the ridgeline (don't try to drop down to the valley too early). Two hikers died in 2009 trying to get down quicker.

Beautiful, rigorous, thrilling trail, with extensive scrambling.
Those without some climbing, or rout finding experience need not apply. Wet conditions add to the thrill, difficulty, and risk of serious mechanical injury and or death. Nice weather reduces these risks but does not eliminate them. Keep in mind you are in Scotland and mountain weather can change swiftly.
Those who push through will be rewarded with an experience of a lifetime.

A great outing in summer or winter.

In summer good scrambling skills will see you over the worst and on a dry day most will have a lot of fun. The rock can be iffy in the wet and it’s certainly not a place for those with little experience to be taking themselves.

Winter is little different- an experienced pair will pitch very little and be off the mountain by lunch. If you’re less experienced this can be significantly longer and the ridge is the scene for many an epic!
