We didn’t take exactly this trail. We took the ferry from Keswick across Derwent Water lake to the cat bells trailhead.

We then ascended to cat bells and walked along the ridge line to several additional high points — Maiden Moor and High Spy. Then we back tracked a bit and descended and took the ferry back. This was about 5 miles and ~2000 ft total elevation gain.

One can easily add chunks of distance to this hike on the end (all flat) if you want to hike along Derwent Water a bit to one of the various ferry points— or all the way back along the lake.

All in all a fantastic hike with great views.
