Getting There

Described as the highest point in Europe accessible by an official trail. Challenging hike with beautiful views on a clear day

Best hiked in summer with no snow/ice along the trail. Take the high altitude into consideration. Some areas require light scrambling/holding onto rails. Spending the night at the Turtmann Hut (for a fee, breakfast included) recommended for inexperienced hikers. Beware weather conditions; you don't want to get stuck in fog.

Trail begins in Turtmann Valley. Parking area is right before the small bridge where the Gruben road crosses the Turtmanna stream. From there follow the road/marked trail up to the reservoir, then the hut, and finally up to the peak, marked by a cross.

Stunning views all the way from the parking lot at 1800m to the peak 3610m. Getting to the peak was very rewarding. Peak is surrounded by several taller peaks, most beautiful of them is Weisshorn.
