In an area with a surplus of phenomenal hikes and climbs, summiting Rimpfischhorn is a worthwhile investment. Warning: this is not just a hike! You will need to climb and - unless you are experienced - you will also need a partner to be roped in with, if at least for the last 30 minutes of the climb. Check with the local Alpine Center to get info on mountain conditions before going. Also, except the total climb to take around 10 hours (6 up and 4 down). Rimpfischhorn is best attempted with an early start (02:00 - 03:00) from the Fluhalp cabin, as the earliest cable car to Blauherd starts around 8:00am. Alternatively, you could start hiking from Zermatt very early (around 24:00-01:00), but this would turn an already long day into a very difficult test. The first two miles up to Pfulwe are relatively easy with only a few steep steep sections to hike. The first bit of climbing is encountered when you descend Pfulwe, but it's short and there are sturdy ropes anchored into the rock. The exposure during this section is fairly minimal.
