From Kerns in the canton of Obwalden, the narrow but consistently paved road winds with a max. Climb 15% up to Ächerli, - at 1'458 m.ü.M. - and then down to Dallenwil in the canton of Nidwalden. The area of the Ächerlipasses is a very lovely area with a fantastic view down to the valleys. The pass itself is steeped in history, but the French used it in September 1798 when they invaded the Swiss Confederation to get from Obwalden over to Nidwalden.
