Getting There

HikingGreat!

We started our climb at 8.30 am and got back just in time for the sunset, so all in all with lunch and photo breaks about a 10h round trip. Doable in one day, but very tiring, the last half of the climb is very steep and you need a lot of energy and patience. The views are absolutely astonishing and well worth it though. Highly recommend it, especially if you’re up for a challenge.

Night time summit done, truly breathe taking stuff for the sunrise. Roughly a 6 1/2 hour hike. Bring layers if doing it at night. Surprisingly chilly up there. Your legs will know they were on a hike after it haha

Great trail. Easy to follow. Very steep and continuous. High Altitude does play its part in making the route very tiring. You have the option of getting a cable car down from close to the top if you need it.

Nice, but a lot of people at the cable car level. I had made a reservation to go to the top, which is definitely worth it. I almost wish I woulda just gone at night for the sunrise though, that would be amazing to see from there.

The Montana Blanca hike is very easy. It wasn’t planned, but I ended up going to the top of Mt Teide, which is hard, but can definitely be recommended.

we made it at night with guide. trail is good marked and same path is not so hard. main problem is elevation and temperature. in upper level you need do a lot of breakes to give your brain more oxygen. you need trekking equipment. there can be really cold and windy. when on sea level was 19st C at pick was -1st C.

We paid to take the cable car up the mountain and had arranged for the free summit permit ahead of time to complete the summit portion of the hike. It is a bit steep at times, and the air definitely feels thinner at this elevation compared to staying near sea level. Great hike that can easily be done in under 1.5 hours. Great views from the top! Because you are required to get a permit to climb to the summit, it doesn't get very busy.

A great and challenging hike. Lots of elevation gain and the air gets real thin. Dress warmly as the temperature drop from the beaches to the mountain top is 40 degrees. Make sure you get a permit for the top...you do not want to hike all day and be denied the summit only a few hundred feet from the top. I gave this a four not a five simply because there are so many better hikes on the island with gorgeous flora and fauna. This is fun to do once to say you did it, but no reason to do it twice.
