This is the full route of the Camino de San Salvador from León to Oviedo, then it offers the option to continue all the way to the coast to Avilés. This route can be broken into five stages through mountainous terrain and impressive landscapes. This mountainous pilgrimage route from León to Oviedo, takes you to the beautiful Cathedral of San Salvador, in Oviedo. It is also one of the many options to get to Camino de Santiago. Once in Oviedo, if you want to continue walking to Santiago de Compostela, you have the option to join the traditional Camino Francés route, or you can take the Camino Primitivo, which runs through the interior or the Camino del Norte, that runs along the coast. Legend has it that the remains of the Saint Apostle Santiago are buried there. Every spring and summer, many people follow its routes as a form of spiritual path or retreat for their spiritual growth. It is also popular with hiking and cycling enthusiasts and organized tour groups. This route travels through many historical towns and picturesque villages, it offers the option to enjoy many cultural attractions and admire the breathtaking mountainous views. It can be done at a variety of paces and starting points. It goes along all types of terrain, mostly off-road, rugged and rocky in some areas. The views are breathtaking.
