This route is part of a multi week long walk, along the Camino del Norte, also known as the Northern Way. The Camino del Norte is a pilgrimage route starting in Irun and finishing at the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela. It can be done at a variety of paces and starting points. This route takes pilgrims along the wonderful northern Spanish coast, from the Basque Country, across Cantabria, Asturias and on to Santiago de Compostela, in the center of Galicia. Legend has it that the remains of the Saint Apostle Santiago are buried there. Every spring and summer, many people follow its routes as a form of spiritual path or retreat for their spiritual growth. It is also popular with hiking and cycling enthusiasts and organized tour groups.
