This canyon formed by the waters of the Guadiaro River is 1.5 km long and up to 100 meters deep. It is located in the vicinity of Gaucin and in 2003 it was declared a Natural Monument, considered by many geologists as the most spectacular of the Iberian Peninsula. The vegetation of the area is typically Mediterranean, with dominating oak, junipers, mastic trees, wild olive trees, cornicabra, etc. etc. This canyon is one of the most important in Andalusia for the practice of canyoning, but this is another story.

Do not hike the return! it is completely overgrown and impossible to find. Hike all the way to the bridge and back instead.
