The trail starts just right to the cable car lower station and it climbs quickly to the contour path. Then the India Venster hike truly starts. Follow the yellow footprints all the way to the top of the mountain. Beautiful views and fun hike, but don't underestimate it. There is parts where climbing is involved and above average fitness is required to make it to the top. The route is extremely difficult down and should only be done by experienced hikers.

Wow beautiful hike, definitely required a lot of attention to the route. Had to climb rock and chains, keep on moving up all the time. So it is challenging but totally worth it

One of the most beautiful hikes I’ve ever done! Definitely a strenuous one, and be prepared for proper bouldering and rock climbing. Took us 2.5 hours to the top not including breaks (which I took often as this is a difficult one- but totally worth it!). Make sure you have plenty of water sunscreen and so on, there is nearly no shade on the trail.

Incredible hike with amazing views. Definitely challenging, including some bouldering. Took us about 2.5 hours to get up, taking breaks for photos and water. Definitely bring plenty of water! Also, there is a cafe at the top with snacks and beverages, a great place to watch the sun set and then tram down! Note, the wait for the cable car descent was about an hour and a half, and it was chilly and windy up there so bring layers!

Must do hike Lots of exposure and scrambling/climbing up rock faces Went when it was rainy and windy and therefore would recommend doing this in better conditions.

One of the best hikes I’ve done. Up up up; chains, staples and scrambling. LOADS of fun and can not wait to go back!

Amazing! Some rock climbing required but nothing dangerous; doesn't require experience!

It's not an easy hike, be prepared for some rock climbing as you make your way to the top.

Starts with a steep uphill from the cable station to the contour path and then becomes a delightful, albeit not easy, trail. There are multiple scrambles up rock faces, some aided by staples and chains. Stunning views throughout. Because the trail wraps around the mountain you may have sun on one side and shade on the other. The weather changes quickly and when rain moves in the trail becomes quite slippery and dangerous in points. Be prepared to descend by Platteklip or if it’s not too windy, the cable car.

Great hike with gorgeous views, but is very steep in some spots, as in straight up some large boulders. Detour to Kloof Corner was worth it - amazing views. People with good fitness and some basic rock climbing skills will do fine. This hike should NEVER be done in wet conditions. .One other thing is that the trail can be difficult to follow so you should go slow enough to confirm you are following the yellow markings. From what I’ve read, most of the deaths on this hike have occurred either in bad weather conditions or when people accidentally went off the trail.

Definitely not an easy hike. I did this in the fog and rain with a guide and it was still quite pretty.
