Kings Kloof Farm: Red Route is a 13.8 mile lightly trafficked loop trail located near Krugersdorp, Gauteng, South Africa that features a lake and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking and walking.
King's Kloof has a 21km black route which we hiked with heavy bags in preparation for a multi day trail. The trail starts off quite boring on the flat section of the farm, and detours up the mountain after 7km. The terrain is constantly changing from this point, which we loved. Gradual incline up the mountain on rocky sections, the scenery then changes to being surrounded by mountains which was beautiful and a completely different feel to the trails which don't ascend the mountain. There's a nice forest walk around the 11km mark which would be a great stop for a break but we decided to push through to break at 15km. I previously wrote a review of the 11km blue route which i found to be quite average, but this 21km was interesting and I would recommend it. Total elevation of 583m.
Well marked trail. Meandering loops with minimal steeps. Challenging in its unique form.
Beautiful waterfall, easy route...consider trail running if you're a professional hiker.
