Ben Lomond is one of the most popular Munros, rewarding visitors with fantastic views of the length of Loch Lomond and far into the hills to the north and the Trossachs to the east. The route has been well made, however the return down the Ptarmigan ridge can be muddy and is rocky in places making the going more difficult in poor visibility.

Great day out. Perfect trial. The decent through the ptarmigan ridge was brutal for me. Sore knees now but super chuffed. 4 hours up and down. Amazing sunrise and views of the lake.

Amazing trail up and down with breathtaking views. Summit was clouded over but did offer great views as we went up and came down. Throughly enjoyed this trip.

Absolutely love it, one of the best I've done. we had a little weather at the top and no views but the trail and surroundings are beautiful. well worth the 4hr trip up here and the 6hrs of broken sleep in the car park. Only £3 for all day parking and you need £1 coins. will definitely be back in clearer weather.

Took Ptarmigan up and Ben Lomond down. The decent felt like it was going on forever. In the clouds at the top but views were unreal.

We had an enjoyable hike on this trail today. It's definitely a difficult hike with a long climb up but it was completely worth it for the stunning views from the top! The map was also really easy to follow. We parked in Ben Lomond car park and the pay machine wasn't taking card so remember to bring some coins!

Great loop - we took Ben Lomond up and Ptarmigan down, definitely the easier way I'd say. Parking a pain, but arrive early. If not you can pay to park at pub, or heaps of people ended up parking up the roads, so you'll find somewhere for sure.

Great views, rocky but clear path the whole way. Fairly busy on the way down. Car park opens at 8 and fills up quick so aim to arrive around then.

We climbed up on the tourist path and descended down the ptarmigan side to make the full circuit. Found it very demanding and challenging in parts. The path is very uneven and quite narrow in places.
