I felt like there was a lot more woodland and bushland than I expected and hardly any good views but the second half of the hike was wonderful. Open and breezy and rugged. When they say moderate, it’s definitely on the way to being challenging in my opinion, especially on the last stretch. Gorgeous views but quite uneven ground. Not sure about the safety when wet. We were lucky with the weather being sunny and dry all day, though.

What a fun route, you can choose to go over the hill or round it I’m scared of cows and had some funny encounters on comic hill with some very large Scottish cows! Watch the video on my YouTube channel Drunk On Wanderlust Of the West Highland way hike with information on campsites and what to expect on the trail

Comic Hill was simply the best view, and Balhama is a treat waiting at the bottom.

I did this as part of a run from Milngavie to Balmaha. Well kept path and easy to follow, slightly muddy in places. Conic Hill is a straightforward ascent, but had to be careful on the descent with the slippery rocks. The view on the way down is a delight.

Did the whole way quite a few years ago. But now I would only do stages. This one is moderately flat. But gives you a good taste of what's on the menu on the rest of the west Highland way. If you dare. Enjoy. You will.

Beautiful countryside path. I strongly taking the road going up Conic Hill. It is an long, easy ascent..the descent is really hard on the knees especially if you have been hiking since Milngavie! Great reward at the end with the Oak Tree Inn and the coffee and ice cream shop!

Climb up Conic Hill was steady and tough; going down was even tougher as it's on rock. Saw a couple of wipeouts from day hikers thinking it was easier to rush around backpackers.

No one walks 100 miles in the Scottish rain without a reason to do so! I walked it to find myself after a difficult period in my life. So glad that I did. It was wonderful. On my first night I stayed at a fabulous hotel called Ardoch House Hotel. Truly exceptional. It is also a nature retreat offering yoga, reiki, etc. Seriously cool. If I am honest that was the best place that I stayed at over my 6 day/night walk. Great value for money too. If you are walking the WHW then stay here on your first night for some hippy luxury.
