Note: As of May 2019, the Rampage Road is CLOSED due to a rockslide. However you should be able to make a detour to this trail. Experience a proper hill walk in the heart of the city. Arthur's Seat's rocky summit towers over Edinburgh, with fabulous views in all directions, and the extensive parkland surrounding it is an oasis of calm as a retreat from the busy city. Arthur's Seat is the highest of a group of hills, formed from the remains of a volcano, that make up Holyrood Park. The summit is 251 metres high and surprisingly rocky and wild for a hill in the centre of a major city. Although it is popular, it still feels like a real get away from it all place.

A beautiful hike - the climb is worth the views. Sneakers are ok but hiking boots are better. Trails are easy to follow - starts across from Holyrood Park.

We make this hike every time we visit Edinburgh. Lovely flowers along the way and fantastic view from the top.

Great hike with rock climbing/scrambling options and easier flat incline paths. If your ears are sensitive to wind, I recommend a wrap since it gets gusty up there!

Great trek up this morning. Lovely views of the city of Edinburgh. Slightly slippy descending because of the rain, and inappropriate footwear - will know for next time!

Worthwhile views; nice steady climb; trail maintenance is poor for one that gets as much traffic as this one. Erosion has left some high steps and the paths to the side are likely to get slippery when wet. The picture is that of a chapel near the start of the trail. It has the only signage on the trail. A trail near the north face had been closed with a rock slide when we were there; it was well marked as such.

Fairly easy for people with good level of fitness. 251m High. Amazing 360 degree view of Edinburgh city centre at the top. Think I’ve climbed Arthur’s Seat around 5-6 times, it’s always a fun thing to do when visiting the capital.

Gorgeous views overlooking Edinburgh. Little crowded, but you can make this as easy of a walk or tough as a hike as you want.

Great trail with a great view. Bring a bottle of wine and enjoy the view for an hour. The only downside is that there is such heavy traffic. There are a few side trails with other peaks that you can go to to get away from the crowd. They are all in view and easy to get to. Be careful as the rock on the seat summit is VERY slick. Some of the other hills has small loose rock that slip underneath you very easily. All in all, if you’re in Edinburgh, it’s a must do.

Great walk for some urban exploring. Stunning 360 degree views of Edinburgh and beyond. Perfect if you have an hour or so free for a walk, jog, run that incorporates a bit of nature too.

Amazing! Depending on weather that day/day before, path could be very muddy and slick. VERY windy at top the day I did it but definitely part of the experience.
