The Cobbler, also known as Ben Arthur, is a mountain at the head of Loch Lomond. The mountain itself is known for its rock climbing, considered some of the best in the Southern Highlands. The Cobbler has three summits, with the middle summit being the highest and most difficult to reach. It requires careful navigation through a hole, or needle, to reach a tall rock outcrop. Whether you choose to attack this summit or not, you will enjoy stunning views of Loch Lomond and the surrounding highlands throughout this hike.

Best hike. The elevation has been fairly distributed over the entire route. just last around 2 km patch is with high elevation but the views from up there are really worth it!

Amazing hike with stunning views. Took the off path route to the summit which is hard work but great fun. Be warned the parking in arrochar costs money ( £9 all day I think ) so bring some change.

Some of the most stunning scenery with 360 degrees views. The trail has varying degrees of inclines throughout. Climbing the front face up Ben Arthur is rewarding and fun. Enjoyed it all!

Beautiful scenery, tough in parts and good fun scramble up the summit via the north path.

Long, tough hike. The first section is quite difficult with lots of midgies! I highly recommend going up the front of the mountain, which does involve a long scramble, then down the back. Some climbing skills required, but well worth it. The hike back seems never-ending but amazing feeling at the bottom. Parking is per hour which is a bit daft, but it took us 5hr 15m so I'd recommend paying for 6 hours.

First time doing the cobbler thought the Forrest part was the hardest ( maybe because your straight out the car park into it ) suns was shining , rain came on back to sun- all the way up time we got to the top couldn’t see a thing , it was like a winters day gutted . But climb was brilliant feeling it now though

It was lots of fun! My husband and I made it a loop by going up through the available path leading southeast if used coming down and came down through the route that most people take to go up. We also managed to thread the needle which was super cool! First time for everything.

Fairly moderate climb for quite spectacular views. Recommended hiking poles and crampons in winter. Be sure to check https://www.mountain-forecast.com/peaks/The-Cobbler/forecasts/884 during winter.
