A very enjoyable hike along clear and good condition paths. The trek out to Derry Lodge has a slight gradient but nothing to taxing. Spectacular views ahead of Ben Macdui and surrounding mountains. The lodge is an abandoned stone hunting lodge. The route back is the same but joining another track to the left (marked blue) after the bridge provides excellent views down of the Dee's rapids and waterfalls. Follow this path across the road, down to the river and back to the start at the car park.
