This is one of the better walks in Madeira. The extreme eastern tip of the island consists of a long, extensive peninsula called Ponta de São Lourenço. In the winter months this is overgrown with moss but in the summer everything is completely dry. The path has some steep climbs, especially the climb to the viewpoint after you have passed the Casa da Sardinha. But your effort is ultimately rewarded with a fantastic view of the Atlantic Ocean. The way back takes almost the same path and takes about the same amount of time.

The most beautiful scenery on every step of the way during the entire hike ! It’s graved in my Memory for ever ! Got caught in the way back from the end archipel by the sun heat , in the mid-end of the hike I had a mini sun stroke! But managed to finish this epic day with a smile stronger than my head rush from the sun ! No shade at all but the most beautiful creation ! 5 stars !

Great hike, well sign-posted and relatively easy apart from the last ascension which is a bit steeper & harder on the knees. We completed it in 2hours with occasional picture breaks and stopping at the “casa do sardinhas” to use the bathrooms. Very nice views throughout.

Great Trail - rather easy to hike. At the stop (Café) you could book a boat trip and continue your hiking route at the same point later in. Thus, a very flexible option, but it is a rather busy trail. The view is stunning.

Dramatic sweeping views over the peninsula reward you many times over the course of this moderate hike. The main trail is well maintained, marked but Is more moderate than easy because of the elevation changes. Cable guide in spots are particularly helpful on parts where the peninsula narrows in isthmus ridges. It was relatively highly trafficked on the Friday we visited and the parking was full so our recording began at the very bottom of the car park. As others have noted, take plenty of water as it is open and very dry. Swim options exist at a couple of points.

Great views. Very popular place, so the path is very crowded. After all it’s a must see in Madeira. It’s good to take a lot of water with you.

really nice hike! a lot of steps! no shade at all, so make sure to bring water with you and a hat! at the end you have a cafe which is basically an oasis in the middle of the desert. The refreshing dip on the beach is a really nice way to end the trail and go back again

Randonnée très agréable, surtout lorsque le soleil joue à cache cache avec les nuages, sinon il peut faire très chaud.

Trail is longer when going up to Pico do Furado. Great views of the high cliffs. Hight of Pico do Furado is incorrect!! It shows 12 mtrs. it must be at least 178 mtrs.

Easy but lot of steps. Take a lot of water because it could be very hot and there is nothing on this place. Views are magic!
