Monter au petit matin pour profiter de la vue panoramique au sommet du picó ruivo et du levée du jour. Magique ! Prendre des vêtements chauds . Point d’eau à mi parcours

Loved this trail! The views were breathtaking, around every turn we thought “this couldn’t possibly get any better” and then it DID. The trail is in excellent condition, mostly stone pavers with numerous little huts with seating to rest or in case of a sudden weather change. The end of the trail is the peak of the tallest mountain on the island and you can see the deserted islands, the golden islands and all the rock outcroppings of Madeira. I would do this trail again and again. Make sure you conserve you energy though because the last 0.3km was absolutely the hardest (and I suspect it’s why it’s rated as moderate instead of easy). I wore my 1 year old and held my 4 year olds hand, my 6 and 8 year olds had no problems (adding this detail because I have read on numerous other forums advising NOT to bring children under 7 and that’s just crazy).

What a trip! we took this trail in mid-November and it was a real treat. Incredible view after incredible view. Unfortunately it was foggy when we got to the top and it never cleared but the views on the way up were absolutely breathtaking. We did the hike in around 4 hours total (stopped to take in the views and get some pics frequently). Most of the trail is moderate, but pace yourself. You'll need a good bit of energy to finish out. Also, 1,862 meters may not sound like much, but when you live 150 meters above sea level, you notice the lack of oxygen. Great trail, great hike, absolutely would do it again.

Fun trail. I would rate it easy to moderate. Slightly windy of course but an amazing variety of views.

I absolutely loved this hike! I think it was more easy than moderate but it's a relative opinion. do the hike! It's worth every step.

Fun trail, to bad it was cloudy. Path is ok. There’s a resting place near the peak.

Nice short hike to the Pico Ruivo summit. The easiest way to reach it and a small introduction to the madeira peak hikes. Nice view from the summit.
