This trail begins on the Regional Road between Povoação and Água Retorta, just past the Ribeira do Faial da Terra bridge. It is a route that takes place in totality on foot and is linked to the PRC-9-SMI, Faial da Terra - Salto do Prego route, and the hikers can finish in Faial da Terra. The path begins at the side of the stream and follows for almost half the way very close to the river, and you can see beautiful images of it. After about 800 m you will arrive at a clearing where you will find an abandoned water mill. In this place, you can make a detour to the bed of the river to observe a centennial bridge that is just below. Continuing the route, you will continue in a forest of criptomies and incense, crossing several wooden bridges over the small streams that feed the main stream. Some caution is required when crossing the bridges, as they may be slippery due to moisture. In this section you will find a detour to a beautiful waterfall called "Salto do Cagarrão", then return to the main route and descend until you find the indication to visit the "Salto do Prego" waterfall. The route then continues down a staircase until you reach a fork, where this trail intersects with the PRC-9-SMI. If you like, you can continue along this route to Faial.
