A trip along the Algarve coast from Praia da Marinha in the east to Praia Vale de Centianes. The trail includes a variety of beaches and caves to explore. It can be walked from either direction and includes many signs on posts or painted rocks to guide the way.

Perfect intro to Algarve/southern coastline. Only few steep climbs, good direction signs, astounding views.

Well marked trail that shows off the coast. We walked it one way from west to east and it was pretty easy, although there were a couple of scrambles where we needed to take our time.

Spectacular views from beginning to end. Definitely not an easy hike. But very doable. A couple of spots required a bit of scrambling but I would do this again in a heart beat. We started at Praia da Marinha and ended at Praia da Val de Centeanes. Going from east to west you finish at a lovely little bar where you can enjoy a well earned glass of wine!

This is the most breath-taking trail we’ve been on on the southern shore so far. Yes, you can set time records, but on a trail this beautiful, I prefer to take my time, observe, take photos, notice flora and appreciate the stunning rock formations. We started mid-morning and went East->West, which worked well wind- and sun-wise. I’m a 60-something with some balance/dizzy issues (meds), and had a slight problem with that, but it wouldn’t keep me from doing it again!!

This is an awesome walk. The rugged limestone coastline is breathtaking in its beauty because of the stacks, caves and arches. In most areas, the trail is well marked, but there are some areas that aren’t. There are numerous stairs and a few rocky scrambles, but even seniors with canes are seen walking it daily. We did the entire route in 7 hours stopping for photos and for beers Benagil.

Fell in love with the Algarve today, Turquoise sea, pristine beaches and coastal caves around every corner. Breath-taking vistas.

Really nice hike, stunning views of the coast. It took about 2.5 hours to complete. Weather-wise it can get really hot (we did it on September), so the earlier the better! bring plenty of water and enjoy!

Absolutely stunning walk. Allow plenty of time, as you will want to explore all of the beaches, and caves and tunnels and..... One of my favourite walks ever.

Great hike. Moderate rating for sure. The views are stunning. Walked from Praia Vale de Centianes to Benegil and back (12k). Will finish off another day for sure. Love the coastlines in the Algarve

Magnifique!

Best hike of Algarve so far. Hiking boots and sticks are helpful as the terrain is uneven and sometimes quite rough. We left early but on or way back it was crowded. Saw some pinguins and a polar bear near the lighthouse. No bikes.

Stunning hike! This is definitely a moderate rating not easy. We hiked west from Praia de Marinha to just past the beach at Carvoeiro (5.5 mi) and took a taxi back to the car from a hotel at the top of the hill. The sun was behind us - we started at 10am. The trail was very uneven and rocky with a lot of ups and downs. I was glad I was wearing my hiking/trail runners. Bring water and hats. The views along the coast are stupendous. This is a must do hike if you are exploring the Algarve.

This was an amazing hike! Hiked one way, then enjoyed the refreshing sea and beach at the end, then Ubered back to car. Breathtaking views!! I suggest wearing good sneakers or hiking boots. This hike is in my top 5!

really beautiful views, go early to avoid all the tourists. only one or two tricky parts where you have to pull yourself up, but otherwise pretty easy.

What an amazing adventure! The trails were great ..... although sometimes I felt a little bit like a mountain goat! Possibly a bit more markings would help alleviate this .... the signage is limited. Highly recommended!

Spectacular views! More a walk than a hike from Benagil to Maranha (takes 30mins one-way; my wife did it in sandals). Highly recommended!

We planned a day to do this trail and worked in some time at the beach, we hiked west to east and back. We didn’t have a car while staying in the area and were able to get an Uber from Lagoa to the starting point on the western side of the trail no problem, when we got back we kept walking to Carvoeiro to eat dinner and got a taxi from there to get back to Lagoa. The trail is very well marked and was generally easy, just the up and down between cliffs made it fatiguing. Coming in August we were exposed to the sun for nearly the whole trail which was fatiguing as well, plan accordingly with water, snacks and whatever sunscreen or UV clothing you need. There is a cafe in Praia da Marina where you can buy water bottles and possible other locations along the way. We both were comfortable hiking in normal sneakers.

We made a leisurely day trip that included stops for lunch and beach time around this trail. Hiked one way, west to east. Started at Praha Centeanes near Carvoeiro around 10:00 am, took our time to enjoy views. Arrived to Praha Benagil around 12 and had lunch at the Casa Lam overlooking the beach and boat launch where a tour boat company operates a cave tour business. Laid on the beach and tested the cool water for about 2 hours, rehydrated at the cafe and then around 5pm headed up the east hill from the beach to continue the trail that we had to seek out around the parking lot at the top of the hill. We made our way back to the coastal trail and were rewarded for our persistence with fantastic views as we neared Praha Marinha with natural arch and many stacks. Spent about an hour at the end of the trail at Praha Marinha until the sun started to dip behind the cliffs to the west. A perfect day in Algarve. The trail is accurately labeled moderate.

We did the trail early’ish, 8:25. We were the 3rd car in the parking lot. It started off great as there were very few people. The views were incredible and we stopped many times as the sun was behind us on the way out. It took us until 11:29 to reach then end. We played on the beach for a bit then headed back. WHAT A DIFFERENCE! It was so busy!!! The trail was a 5 out and a 3 back because of the amount of people. That is why I gave it a 4. I would also rate this as mostly easy to moderate in places. Get on the train early. Take a dip after you are done, it’s cool water this time of year but well worth it!!!
