This epic, once-in-a-lifetime hike takes you through the Owen Stanley Range in Papua New Guinea. It is a four to twelve day trek that is often compared to "a stairmaster in a sauna" because of the hilly terrain and the humid heat. There are a number of guesthouses along the way that hikers can stay at and buy meals.

Amazing country and people, feel privileged to have been able to walk this trail. Preparation is a must, a lot of hill training obviously and don’t forget the downhill training, it’s as difficult if not more so than the ups! Extremely rewarding experience.

Probably the greatest Adventure anyone could do, one of those “must do’s” for sure. If you do do it look up PNG Trekking Adventures,, they are the premier company to do it with., you will have the experience of a lifetime with them .

I completed this trek in 2007 and thoroughly loved the experience and historical military significance.

A tough, challenging and rewarding hike. I recommend reading the novel Kokoda by Peter Fitzsimmons(?) before you go to get a feel for the battles.
