This is quite an easy summer hike to Brekkefossen Waterfall. It starts off with a recently constructed path of steps all the way to the Brekkefossen viewpoint. Next is a little more challenging and steep forest path. If it’s rainy, there is a lot of water running down the path. You may encounter several herds of sheep on your way, but the animals are usually really shy. The next part of this trek is physically far less demanding, but since the trail goes through swamps you should bring some good waterproof gear. It is possible to avoid this by leaving the trail and walking around. The last part requires you to step over the stream and finish with a steep walk all the way up to the lake. Keep an eye on red “T” markings and you will find your way up.

Stunning falls. It was paved and level until the turn off for the falls, and after that it was a steady incline. It started raining on the way back and it was slippery. Definitely worth the hike.

I really enjoyed this hike to the Brekkefossen waterfall. It is a steep, family-friendly hike. From the point where the trail leaves the road, it took us about 20 minutes to reach the viewing overlook. Nice views of the Flam valley along the trail. Great panoramic view of the waterfall, river, fjord, and town from the top. Video: https://youtu.be/vpUiRxfo8zw

Short hike but very steep. A decent portion on the trail is stone steps near the beginning and then steep uphill and on dirt after that so shoes with good traction are highly recommended. I think some others talk about it being swampy at the beginning but it was completely dry today. I only recorded my decent to the road
