Holandsmelen is the name of this lone mountain that overlooks the surrounding area. It offers great views at the cost of a moderately difficult hike. This hike is still good for all ages, but can prove challenging to new hikers or those not at a good fitness level.

This trail has a bit of a multiple personality disorder going on. The start of it is through a wooded area, which then turns into crossing a boggy bit of land, before finally ascending the mountain which has a bit of a rocky scramble at the top.

This trail is largely unmarked, and a bunch of footpaths go off in every direction at different points. I actually got lost after reach the top and made my way back down the wrong side of the mountain, where I had to cross a wire fence to get back to the main road.

At the start, you'll park alongside the main road - Google Maps has the area listed as Holandsmelen Parking. From there, you'll pass through a gate that makes it seem like someone's property, but that's the right path. The middle and end of this trail is rather exposed, so keep that in mind and don't forget your sunscreen.

This trail has a big payoff, though, with wonderful 360 degree views. Holandsmelen is a lone mountain in this area, so it offers a great view of all the surrounding flatlands, including a great view of some beautiful beaches.
