Getting There

Starting in Skageflå, where you will arrive by boat, hike along the small path that winds its way up to the historical farm 250 meters above the fjord on a cliff’s edge. From the farm the trail continues all the way back to Geiranger via Homlongsætra and Homlong. On the way up to Homlongsætra at 550 meters above the fjord, it can get quite steep at times, but the trail has been secured with ropes at the most crucial points, so it is safe and also suitable for children. If you’re looking for an extended hike and panoramic views there is a trail from Homlongsætra up to Skagedalsætra and eventually Keipane, at 1,379 metres above sea level. The return trip to Keipane will add about 10 km to your journey. Otherwise it’s a steady 3 kilometer downhill trek to Homlong and then on to Geiranger.

The trail starts in Skagehola right by Geirangerfjorden. You need to take a boat from the harbor in Geiranger to get to Skagahola. The ticket costs 315-350 NOK and drops you off at Skagehola after 30 or 60 minutes, depending on the departure you’ve chosen. From the 1st of May to late October the boat leaves daily from Geiranger. From November to March the boat does not operate.

First to Review

This trail has everything and gives you a breathtaking view of the Seven Sisters Falls. We took a fjord cruise and was dropped off at the trail head next to the water. The trail had some muddy spots as it rained earlier in the day. The first part of the hike up to the farm was narrow and steep. Hiking shoes highly recommended. The viewpoints near the cliff showcase the Geiranger Fjord and an amazing views of the Seven Sisters Falls at different heights. The hike from the farm towards Homlong was a bit over grown. Keep an eye out for red markings on rocks which marks the trail. From Homlong to Geiranger is about 30 mins walk.
