Please note: off line map is recommended to get oriented as several users have reported that this trail is not well marked. Scenes from Lord of the Rings were filmed at this location. Great loop with a rocky river up to the beautiful pinnacle formations, a walk through the woods up to the viewpoint and a muddy trek through a palm grove. https://www.doc.govt.nz/parks-and-recreation/places-to-go/wairarapa/places/putangirua-pinnacles-scenic-reserve/things-to-do/pinnacles-track/

Great family hike! Lots of stairs to the lookout, fairly steep down to the stream bed, and pretty slippery on all the gravel. But worth the walk!

Great hike! Very rocky along the stream bed part of the walk which was actually quite fun! Just got to have good balance and coordination. Pinnacles were amazing from both the lookout and from underneath! Definitely recommend doing the ridge side of the loop first and then coming back via the stream bed.

Terrific! A bit of adventure while approaching the pinnacles from the streambed. Just careful of rockfall.

This is a nice trail that’ll take you up to the lookout and down to the base of the pinnacles. Note that the stream-bed portion of the trail isn’t super well marked so just keep an eye on the north/west side of the stream so you don’t miss the trail markers.

Even if you are not fan of the lord of the ring its still a nice track to do, walking in the middle of the Pinnacles is funny. Obviously if you are fan, you have to stop here !

Nice short and easy trail up to both the base of the pinnacles through a river wash. Grom there, you can go up to a viewpoint for a fantastic view of these formations. I'd recommend you go right at the intersection, and head up to the viewpoint after you've been to the base. The climb down is gradual and mostly staircases that way, while you only have a few of those on the way up.

Few moments from Lord of the Rings where filmed here. It can get busy but track is wide so you won’t feel squished. Quite rocky surface, wear good shoes.

Great little loop with a rocky river up to the beautiful pinnacle formations, a walk through the woods up to the viewpoint and a muddy trek through a palm grove. All in under two hours, can't beat that.

I loved this walk glorious views my 9 year old daughter did it with me she was a bit scared at places but happy as to have finished it, some of the track can be a bit slippery with the gravel under your feet, and watch the rocks lol I pulled a ligament in my ankle but well worth the pain for the awesome views
