The part through the forest by the river is really nice, but once you cross the concrete bridge it becomes somewhat of a plain road. While you are there you may as well visit Rivendell.

Wonderful easy Sunday afternoon walk! Lots of additional tracks to go sit down by the river.

Nice easy bush trail to take the kids. Great views of the river along the way, and a bit of Lord of The Rings filming location.

I only had time to go to Rivendell which was cool but not worth driving multiple hours to get to to see. It’s beautiful but not like the LOTR movies although there are some nice descriptive panels and signs. Amazing trees and birds, fairly crowded for NZ.

We did the Norbert Creek Loop and added in the Swingbridge Loop, riverside paths, the Terrace Loop and stopped at the beautiful Rivendell location. Highly recommend this walk, lots of different and beautiful terrain, the woods are just magical. From our start point it’s a good 2k solid incline, but worth it! Maps are available at the information centre when entering Kaitoke Regional Park.

Beautiful walk, easy (flat) walking for the whole family to enjoy! Bathrooms and bbqs at the park but generally no phone reception. Swimming spots and Lord of the Rings photo opportunities there too!

This is a great loop that we love to do to relax among the trees. I have vertigo so the 1st bridge is a bit difficult but OK. Nice accesses to the river and its stones beaches, possibility to bath in it. This is a nice and short walk.
