Very good trail with great views of the valley along the climb. Once you reach the pinnacles hut (2.5 hours) you can rest a little and head up to the peak. Lots of stairs to get to the top and then climbing up metal ladders - take care when doing this part. So worth it with the views of the forest and coast at the top! https://www.doc.govt.nz/parks-and-recreation/places-to-go/coromandel/places/coromandel-forest-park/things-to-do/kauaeranga-kauri-trail/

Took me two hours to the hut and then after a rest only 25 to the top. The views are amazing although there isn’t a lot of room up there on the rocks so if there’s a lot of people it’s a little squished. Stayed in the hut for sunrise the following morning. It wasn’t the best sunrise but on a better day I’m sure it’s magical.

One of the coolest hikes I’ve done. Loved the different terrains, rock climbing and using the bars. The stairs towards the end after the hut were painful but was a good challenge and the climb to the top was 100% worth it

Stunning hike! Completed this in 5.5hrs going at a normal decent pace. I'm not fit either. Mostly hard/stone stairs so your legs do feel stiff by the end, especially if you run/jump down fast

No better way to start off 2021! Absolutely loved the hike. It’s long but well worth it. ROCKS!! Lots and lots of rocks near the end. 10/10 would do it again.

Lots of stairs, a decent level of fitness needed to get to the top and back in a day The views at the top are well worth the climb on a clear day

Great maintained trail. We did the billygoat trail coming down and it’s an hour longer and seems like forever haha if you have time do it

So fun but quite difficult. There is a lot of uphill portions with ladders and metal steps. Views from the top are amazing!

Nice track. Sometimes very hard because of the steep stairs. Unfortunately when we reached the summit heavy rain come so no view for us. Just one day hike no over night.

Favorite hike! Took 4 and a half hours to complete the entire hike without stops with my partner. We did run some of it though. Well maintained path. It is challenging so you have to be reasonably fit to enjoy it.

Awesome hike! Even on a cloudy day you will get views on the way up, and be in the clouds at top.

I LOVED this hike. Difficult at the end but awesome. Go back the way you came, DONT do the Billygoat Trail. It is slippery with loose rocks and not maintained at all.

I did the Tongariro Crossing couple months before this. Feel like both are as hard but the views throughout the loop are not as pretty. Lots of high steps and stairs. Now climbing to the top is definitely quite an experience. Would say that’s the highlight of my walk. Overnighted at the hut. Quite nice yet if you are looking for a good sleep after an exhausting day of walking, it’s not the place. We saw the sunset AND sunrise (you don’t even have to go up top to see the beautiful sunrise) We took Billygoat track on the way back. Definitely longer and harder than the other way. The track goes up for the first hour or so then mostly down and steep.

Nice trail with a good view at the top. However the loop is not really interesting, I advice you to not do it, you'll save your effort ;)

super rando avec de magnifiques paysages. Pistes bien entretenues et bien signalées. Faisable en 5-6h avec la pause repas (a la hutte ou au sommet) et les arrêts photos. beaucoup d'escaliers, quelques ponts suspendus et échelles.

Great walk for a day trip or to camp up top. The track is well maintained and it is a pretty easy walk too. Be sure to take care when up at the viewpoint if it's raining. You'll have to climb up a few metal ladders so can get sloppy.

Great trail a bit crowded in spots due to holiday traffic, was windy overcast and rainy so the views were limited. Was a great trail to be fair
