The Pinnacles Loop Track is a 10.3 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Hikuai, Waikato, New Zealand that features a waterfall and is rated as difficult. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, and nature trips.
Very good trail with great views of the valley along the climb. Once you reach the pinnacles hut (2.5 hours) you can rest a little and head up to the peak. Lots of stairs to get to the top and then climbing up metal ladders - take care when doing this part. So worth it with the views of the forest and coast at the top! https://www.doc.govt.nz/parks-and-recreation/places-to-go/coromandel/places/coromandel-forest-park/things-to-do/kauaeranga-kauri-trail/
Took me two hours to the hut and then after a rest only 25 to the top. The views are amazing although there isn’t a lot of room up there on the rocks so if there’s a lot of people it’s a little squished. Stayed in the hut for sunrise the following morning. It wasn’t the best sunrise but on a better day I’m sure it’s magical.
Great maintained trail. We did the billygoat trail coming down and it’s an hour longer and seems like forever haha if you have time do it
I did the Tongariro Crossing couple months before this. Feel like both are as hard but the views throughout the loop are not as pretty. Lots of high steps and stairs. Now climbing to the top is definitely quite an experience. Would say that’s the highlight of my walk. Overnighted at the hut. Quite nice yet if you are looking for a good sleep after an exhausting day of walking, it’s not the place. We saw the sunset AND sunrise (you don’t even have to go up top to see the beautiful sunrise) We took Billygoat track on the way back. Definitely longer and harder than the other way. The track goes up for the first hour or so then mostly down and steep.
Great trail a bit crowded in spots due to holiday traffic, was windy overcast and rainy so the views were limited. Was a great trail to be fair
