To get to the start of the walk head out of Taupo on State Highway 5 towards Napier, go through the new roundabout and turn in about 3 k’s off at Mountain Road on your left hand side. The views are spectacular and well worth the hard slog. Doing the first part over the farmland is not so exciting but once up into the bush there are some great sections.

Randonnée agréable poir une superbe vue sur Taupo le lac et le Tongariro

Really nice hike with gorgeous views. You have to walk by cattle which is interesting. For the most part the trail is clear but there were a few spots that weren't obvious (but I think they may have led to the same way).

This trail is in wonderful order for the middle of winter. Vista well worth the walk up. Took several rest stops due to needing a better fitness level. Cool at the top so layer up. Not too many people during mid week mid winter.

its a good walk, the pathway is good too. plenty of people on the track too and takes around 45mins to 1hr to get to the top and the track is pretty easy to follow.

fun little hike! some narrow spots and winding trails that break apart but usually come back together. a little slippery with the mud. did it in under 1hr 40min out and back including meeting new friends in the way down!

Really nice and quick track (1h30 easily if you're used to hiking). Very gentle climb. Keep going towards the view of the lake once you arrive at the top. However when it's raining it must be really slippery... it had rained 2 days ago, and the path was really muddy and slippery sometimes.

gentle steady climb. good track. one of the better walks we have done. 3 .5 hours return. easy going.

Awesome Track, have done this loads of times normally we can do it easily in an hour, in the rough sections their are plenty of tree roots to hold onto. Apart from walking threw the paddocs its a great walk!

2/1/2019. If you like a challenge then this is a good place to start. It is not easy, nor is the trail wide, but you are rewarded by the beautiful NZ bush - look out for the moss covered trees high up, and the stream about 2kms in. The view from the top is great, but dont go up too early as the morning mist can obscure the view. Do explore beyond the trig station to the rocks at the end if the trail ... great views! Things to note: there are narrow and muddy parts and there are obstacles to climb over or navigate around. Suggestion. Take a hiking/ walking stick ( to steady yourself and push away vegetation), water and snacks are always good and take your time on the way down...tripping over is a real possiblity. Well worth the effort and definitely enjoyable.
