Really rewarding but pretty challenging. Wear good runners and activewear.

Family hike, lot of people.
After the viewpoint, the track is forbidden to the public, so it’s a 6 km track instead of 11 km.

First hike we did in Queenstown. The views are just unreal. Pretty steep walk to the top. We did it carrying our kids in packs most of the way... Definitely a workout. But worth it.

This hike can't be classified as hard. It's a well maintained trail with only a few steep parts. Short and relatively easy walk up. Don't forget to walk further up than the "dream basket" for way better views.

A bit of heavy breathing at the start of the hill but not too strenuous overall. Great views from the top.

Best short walk in town.

From downtown you should expect about 90min up and 60min down if you’re in reasonable shape. It’s basically a dirt path, but it’s pretty steep the whole way . Make sure you go 10min higher than the cauldron to get to the summit, and do both sides of the loop as they’re both nice. Quiet trail in the morning in October. I had the summit to myself.

Awesome views from the top. Took just under an hour for me to reach the summit. Definitely worth checking out !

Really recommend that walk. Go to the summit, the view is way better from there and these are only around 15min more.
You will find your way to the top but there aren’t a lot of signs.

This is a good hike from the dock. It is a steep out and back. Wondrous views from the top. Go to the top summit, not just the metal cauldron. it took us, average hikers about 80 mins to the summit and an hour back to the docks.

Great hike. Pace yourself; this is a long hike. It is a vertical hike. Varied terrain if you complete the entire loop, along with the vertical trek to the top of the hill. Highly recommend.

Ya, you’ll feel it. But you will in all nz trails. Check it out, go past the marker. It is longer than you think, it just keeps going.

We did this trail our first day in New Zealand and after a long trip from the U.S. it was a spectacular introduction to this beautiful country and a great way to get acclimated to the new time zone. It was certainly a challenge going up due to the grade and fairly well traveled by locals who would just zoom by you. The views of Queenstown and Lake Wakatipu were breathtaking and absolutely worth the treck up!!

A tough walk, but well worth it! The views from the top are stunning! The ascent is demanding, but okay if you take your time. And uphill one way means downhill the other way!

This is NOT an easy trail! It is basically straight uphill for the first part. My quads were killing me for the next four days. If you start in the town and walk to the trailhead like we did, it is crazy straight up. And in my opinion, a hiking trail should not be completely smoothed out of all the natural elements (i.e. rocks, etc). This makes it more difficult to climb a steep pitch. And far less interesting.
