Awesome! Hike boots are not useful, running shoes would have been perfect. Wind breaker for the summit. We did it in 3.5 hours going up and 2.5 going down with a lot of pauses.

we did it today for sunrise. Took us 2h to the top and 1.5h return. Sunrise was breathtaking! We were alone on the track and on the top. I highly recommend this track!

Très belle randonnée avec en récompense un panorama à couper le souffle. Apparemment il est interdit de bivouaquer dans cette zone... dommage. Le vent souffle fort sur les crêtes. Comptez 5/6h.

Phenomenal trail but difficult. Mostly unshaded so a bad idea in the mid day. Would recommend you get on the trail by 9-10 am at the latest. Parking is easy. Plan for a 5-7 hour hike total depending on your fitness level. The reviewers who said 2 hours are just lying. The views of both lakes from the top are breathtaking. Bring plenty of sunblock, water (1.5-2 L) and lunch for the top.

Watched the sunset at the top and it was amazing today. No wind at all. Took exactly 4 hours for walking in a good pace. Left at 530 pm and had shadow almost all the way up! Perfect. Long break at the top. Just 4 other people at the top to watch the sunset! Much less crowdy than Roy's Peak with amazing views as well.

This hike was so beautiful! We did it as a sunrise hike and started around 4am. It took me 2h 10m to get up to the peak. Breath taking views. Would recommend!

Very well indicated. Overall hard trail as it is a continuous climb, but the view is gorgeous!!! Spent an hour at the top. I would reccomend starting early as there is no shade cover for the last 3/4 of the trek, bring lots of water and a wind breaker for the last part :)

Great trail, well maintained track. Epic views the entire way. The track isn’t technical, but it’s a continuous uphill gradient. Plenty of places to stop for snacks, very little shade. Would recommend taking 2-3 litres of water on a hot day. A lot of false peaks too! But you will know when you are at the end, pure magic!

Great hike. I recommend starting early, 7am at the latest. Come around mid day the track is populated but those, first thing in morning sceneries that include wildlife are worth the early morning start. Prepare for a view steep sections. You gain elevation fast on this one. Well worth the work though, the views are stunning. One of my favourite day hikes to date.

Fabulous trail. I was told it was similar to Roy's Peak but less busy - it was completely different. Beautiful the entire trek...when you think it can't get any better...it does!! 100% recommend this one - if you only have time for one trek in Wanaka please do this one!

Amazing views! Nothing difficult about the track - it was a wide path the whole way. It was just slow as we were stopping to take pictures the whole way as so beautiful! 100% recommend this track

Similar or better view than Roy’s Peak but without the crowd. I hiked this on the day it reopened and had the entire trail to myself. Spectacular views, a grueling ascent and peaceful solitude makes this an unforgettable hike in NZ. I’d rank this slightly behind Ben Lomond.

The trail was amazing. A bit muddy for a few steps at the beginning, so I’d recommend boots instead of sneakers. Trail runners would work but you’d have to dodge a few puddles. The views were amazing, the trail was a great gradual incline most of the way up. Saw many animals (natural & stock), a double rainbow and a variety of weather conditions. Very windy and cold at times but cleared up for our way back down. Excellent NZ adventure!

Juste magnifique. Je conseille pour le levé de soleil ! Mais couvrez vous !

Easy to follow, shade for the first mile but essentially no shade for the rest. Second mile traverses a cow pasture. Great views of both lakes on each side. Just under 4.5hrs & 10 miles recorded.
