You can take a gondola up (cost $44 NZD per Adult) where you will find a nice restaurant, bathroom, and water fountain. From there, follow the signs to the Ben Lomond Trail Summit. It's basically uphill the whole way to the summit. Really amazing views at the top. The last mile gets very steep but it's worth it! https://www.doc.govt.nz/parks-and-recreation/places-to-go/otago/places/queenstown-area/things-to-do/ben-lomond-track/

I have started by Tikki track and then I went to the Ben Lemondo summit. On my way back, I took another way. You will see lots of out of normal track

Really hard uphill for the first half, but worth it for the view! Started at 8 AM & it was cloudy at first (great for temp) & then cleared off at the top for lunch. Cheeky Kia birds at the top too!

Girlfriend and I took the gondola up (cost $44NZD per adult). there is a nice restaurant and bathroom and water fill up at the top of the gondola. from there, we followed the signs to the Ben Lomond Trail Summit. It's basically uphill the whole way to the summit. we ran into some goats (about 15 of them) blocking the trail, so we just waiting and slowly was able to pass them. Total distance was 7.1 miles, and took us 2hrs 55min round trip. It drizzled a few times and was very windy the last miles up to the summit. Really amazing views at the top. The last mile gets very steep but it's worth it!

Solid trail! Didn’t see anyone the up until the saddle. Was around 11km to there then went up the Ben Lomand summit and then down toward skyline and the tiki trail out. Around 20km total.

Amazing hike! Did it from the tiki trail and up and back took 6.45 hours. Loved it! A little scrambly at times on the ascent but amazing views once you’re there. Watch out for the cheeky Kia bird at the top, it’ll steal your lunch!!

Hiked up access road to gondola, then continued along trail. Steady incline the whole way once you are out of the forest. Once you are past the saddle, incline becomes steeper and some spots near the summit deserve a good bit of attention to footing. Once you’re past those, though, it’s a steady incline to the peak. Look out for mountain goats on the way up to the saddle and for Kea birds at the top!

Was a perfect weather day for the two of us (over 50) with OK fitness. Took 4x1L bottles of water and finished 3 between us. I carried water, wet weather jackets, sun cream, fruit and nut bars. Maybe 5kg total. Started from the top of the gondola after a coffee and roll about 8:15am. Took us nearly 6 hours total including a couple of 10min. stops at nice views along the way. Then numerous stops to catch our breath (heart pumping!) as we climbed the steeper section. At the summit we sat for 1/2hr for the amazing view and watching the Kea bird trying to steal food. One of the best parts was chatting to some of the other walkers along the way and joking if we would make the summit. We did and worth every step to get there.

Great trail. Not too hard, but still exhausting. :) I walked via Tiki Trail up to the Skyline Gondola and then joined Ben Lomond Track. Same way back. The map in AllTrails shows a different way for the lower part. From my point of view the Tiki Trail is the official one. Conditions were good on Dec 14 2019. At Ben Lomond the track was a bit crowded. But amazing views of the surrounding valleys and mountains. Definitely recommend.

Trail is in great condition. About 3hours return at a standard pace with several stops. Great views all the way. Highly recommend. Hiking poles recommend for the less confident as there is a couple of rocky points between the saddle and the summit.

Views to die for

Incredible views. Ascent is difficult with high winds and rain during the mountain climb. There is no more snow on the trail, but the rocks are quite slippery in the rain. Watch out for a cheeky Kea on the top of the mountain that loves to steal food out of backpacks!

On a mis 1h30 pour arriver au sommet depuis la gondola. Au total l'aller retour à été de 2h42. Avec une montée constante jusqu'au col et un peu plus difficile après.
