Tawa, Mamaku, and Grampians Walkway Loop is a 3.1 mile loop trail located near Nelson, Nelson-Tasman, New Zealand that offers the chance to see wildlife and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and mountain biking. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
As of February 2020, this track is closed due to fire danger. This is a shared mountain biking and walking track that begins with a gentle climb on the Tawa Track, shade on the Mamaku Track, and views on the Grampians Walkway.
I must’ve missed signs because I went the ‘wrong’ way but got to the top eventually anyway. VERY steep on the track I went up in places but mostly small gradient and well pathed out. Lots of native birds! Saw Makomako singing at the top and a kererū too, as well as many yellowhammers and others. Slippery and steep in parts but even young kids were doing the path so it’s not too hard
