This small trail is a picturesque, convenient and road-free route for walking from several accommodations in St Arnaud to the edge of Lake Rotoiti, where you can carry on to many further, longer trails. The trail is made of dirt and shingle and is only mildly undulating. The track runs alongside the Black River Stream which is flanked with tall, shade providing trees. This would make a great place to take small children for a picnic and nature walk. There are public toilets and ample parking at the Kerr Bay end of the track.

This wee trail is such a nice, gentle track that easily links up to the start of many other, longer trails in this area. There were rabbits "leading the way" as we walked along it at sunrise - very cute! It is shaded and the track is well compacted.
