Awesome walk. LOTS of stairs but well worth the views at the top. Take a walking pole or a stick if doing it in winter as the top part is in the snow line and steps can be icy.

Absolutely. Amazing. Makes you realize why you came to mt cook after being slightly disappointed w the Hooker walk. This trail was up there w Ben Lomond, Roy’s Pk and Roberts Trail for me. Stairs all the way up but you can stop at any point and turn behind you for the most beautiful view. Go on a sunny clear day and it’s outstanding!! Perfect views of cook and you get so close to the snow of the surrounding moutains. It’s also amazing on a cold day because you get the sun most of the way up!!!

Considering the slope grade, the trail is incredibly well built and maintained. But it is more stair steps than any other trail I have done. The views are great but be prepared for wind & cold at Sealy Tarn.

Trail is well maintained. To get to the top you will be climbing stairs the whole way. We were stuck in the clouds once we reached 1500ft elevation, but a good workout and views overall

Nice, well paved route to the lakes. There were many eager Kea flying and walking around at these lakes. easy climb, just needs a bit of endurance.

Bonne rando bien débile avec de nombreuses marches. Seulement 500m de D+ et ça pique déjà. La vue n'est pas exceptionnelle pour l'effort fourni, je conseille de pousser jusqu'en haut de la Mueller hut track.

Great trail. It was a very hot day, and we found it difficult. We started at 1pm, and there was no shade the whole way up. The stairs are hard on the knees, and we wish we had sticks for coming down. It was hard, at times unpleasant, at times we almost gave up, and I’m glad we pushed through. The views were incredible, and the bench at the top is great for a picnic on a warm day. 2hrs up, 1 hr down.

great trail, but challenging because it's steep. stratanwoth the steps to get to Sealy's, the you continue the steep section (more interesting because not steps, but loose rocks). I went on the Mueller's hut, but the best views are on the saddle just after the steepest rocky section.

We did it from the Hermitage hotel to avoid limited parking at the car park. Adds a nice easy walk along the valley with nice views. Once you get to intersection with Kea trail the path gets steeper. From here until summit I would rate this portion very difficult due to many stairs. Elevation gain is about 2000 feet. Once at the top the views are amazing. But Mt Cook was playing peekaboo through the clouds. We heard a few cracks of thunder from some ice flows but wish we saw more.

AllTrails must update the info about this trail. This trail is longer than indicated by the data above. I did this trail four days back and I went about 1.6 miles, but was still had about 1/3rd of the way remaining. Also I would say this trail should be marked hard rather than moderate. While it is not a technical trail, the 2000 or so stairs are pretty steep and make the trail very strenuous. The views are amazing and well worth the effort.

The first almost mile makes it seem easy. Then you climb 2,200 steps and get a good quads workout! We loved it, but were definitely not in shape so we had to take quite a few breaks. The views are breathtaking at the top and on the way up.

Ganz klar: Machen!

Worth the effort! Bring some snacks and a drink (maybe even a wine!) and have a lovely picnic on the top. There’s a nice table up there.
