A good short fitness walk.

Only about 45 minutes out of Christchurch, and has never been busy when we’ve visited. Very steep climb up through pine forest, (though parts have recently been cleared) which took us about an hour fifteen. Definitely worth returning via the Wooded Gully Track which is through the beech forest and includes lots of little stream crossings. Return took about 2 hours.

Very steep track compared to other ways up Mt Thomas but worth the push to the top, not as much pretty scenery to look at on the way via the summit track.

Steep walk at first but amazing views at the top. I walked along the ridge and down the wooded gully track and that was beautiful but a bit wet in places.

Great views! Steep climb initially and can be a bit muddy when wet but definitely worth the effort!

Pretty awesome considering its a relatively short hike. Went up during the snow and came down in the dark with a headtorch, Epic!
