Quite dry at the moment (drought mid march). Highly recommend ONLY doing the trail if there has been some rain in the recent past, otherwise the hills are just a scorched brown. Full trail is 26k, very doable in 1 day. I would stay at Skull peak shelter instead of the homestead at Medinah if the folks running the track would let you modify the normal itinerary. The homestead hostels were noisy and crowded.
