Unique landscape for NZ, worth the drive back on private land and the $5 fee to get to this vista. Drive to it is very pretty and a nice break from NZ highways. It’s not much of a hike, just an easy walk up to the clay features that resemble The Bandlands of South Dakota in miniature. Any departure from the gravel path gets very difficult very quickly. Lots of loose scree and severe grades. Difficult to descend and would be a bad place to be in a downpour. Up high there are some old iron fence pieces in the ground so use caution around them. Great photo opportunities.

This isn’t a hike, it’s a gravel road that leads to a scenic area. The cliffs are beautiful and worth the drive. But I didn’t walk this one.
