Leaving Lake Ohau Lodge will be an easy part of the ride with views of the Ben Ohau Range and Freehold Creek. From there, get ready for a technical climb to the trail's high point, at 900m. After you have worked up a sweat on the ascent, you can relax on a nice (though technical) descent to the historic woolshed along Quailburn Road. Make sure to ride slow or walk you bike if needed. based on your ability level and how tired you are. Once Quailburn Road intersects the highway, hop onto the unpaved trail that enters the Ahuriri Camp Ground. Ride through the camp ground and head over the Ahuriri river by way of the bridge and then it is a short trail ride to Omarama.
