This is Day 1 of a 5-day circuit in Annapurna to Poon Hill. This trek is one of the most popular in Annapurna because it is relatively easy, offers great scenery and does not go really high. Poon Hill is the highest point at 3210m. The main attraction of the trek is the view at Poon Hill on the nearby mountains (Annapurna I (8091m), Dhaulagiri I (8167m), Annapurna South (7219m) Fishtail mountain (6993m)) and the ancient Rhododendron forests, thickly covered in moss. The Rhododendron trees can be seen blooming in spring, around March. As an alternative to stopping in Tikhedungha, it is possible to continue to Uleri the 1st day. However, beware that the climb to Uleri is very steep and fairly long, while on this schedule the second day still has a nice acceptable distance.
