Cerro de la Silleta is located in a small community near Xilitla, S.L.P. Mexico. When you arrive there you have to register and pay a fee to a committee that maintains the trail and they assign you a guide, an inhabitant of the small town who accompanies you on the walk. It is recommended that you hire a tour agency in Cd. Valles or in Xilitla to take you to this community and they will arrange the registration even if it is a simple process. The whole path is uphill and most of the time you walk by steps of cement, stone or wooden logs, and you gain an elevation of about 2300 feet from the trailhead. In about 1.7 miles from the trailhead you arrive to a tower from where you can contemplate the beautiful landscape, at this place you decide if you want to return or continue to the top of the mountain. The last part is the most difficult because you have to climb the rocks that are too steep, but once on the top you will feel a great satisfaction. Take a moment, sit on the rocks and enjoy the gorgeous vista of the mountains, you cannot imagine how beautiful this place is. Be careful when you return, there are some sections of the rocks that are almost vertical, it is a good idea to carry ropes and use them to go down. This is a wonderful place with incredible views, hiking in the middle of beautiful plants and trees, it is worth going all the way to the top of the mountain, it will be and unforgettable experience. Although it is recommended to visit the trail from November to June, check the weather and availability before you plan to go, there are some months that you can enjoy more, maybe not the ones recommended. Sunny days, cloudy, with fog or rain, you decide, you will love it

I did this beautiful trail in the second week of March, although it was a bit of fog, I could enjoy the nice views of the wonderful landscape. An inhabitant of the town of La Silleta with a lot of experience walking on this mountain accompanied us on the trip. Almost at the top, the rocks are too steep and you have to climb them, but it was a nice experience that I will never forget.
