This trail surrounds the entire crater at the top. In the first two miles, the path is not difficult to walk nor too steep and is very well marked. You pass around the Laguna de la Luna (Moon Lagoon) and continue in direction to the top. The difficulty begins when climbing the peaks and walking on the rocks. At the top, the path is not marked, but you can see marks with stones that indicate the direction. About 2.4 miles you reach the highest part, El Fraile Peak. From there, you start to going up and down the peaks, one of them the Aguila Peak. The last part is less difficult to walk, with better trail markings and less rocks. Once the circuit is completed, you continue to the point where you started. The trail has some difficult parts at the top where you have to use your hands to hold on when climbing the rocks. All this difficulty is compensated by the wonderful landscape that you contemplate during the whole journey; this is an incredible trip that is worth trying.

This is the third time I visit the Nevado de Toluca, now walking the entire crater on the top. This is a difficult but very rewarding journey. Once at the top you can contemplate an incredible landscape.
