This is a segment of one of the toughest hikes in the Sierra. To attempt this hike you will need to be in great shape and have advanced off trail navigational skills. Failed attempts are common, many of which result in rescues. You are at high elevations and may experience altitude sickness. If you do, head to a lower elevation quickly as this can be dangerous or even fatal. Proceed with caution and lots of information!

Moderate to hard trail. Overgrown in places and hard to find But when you get there it’s all worthwhile. Stunning vistas, great views down the canyons and of Picacho Del Diablo. Beautiful rock formations and pines. This is my all time favorite backpacking spot to spend the night in Baja California. I would only recommend it for experienced hikers with good navigation skills. Be sure to check in with the San Pedro de Martir office first.
