This is a definite favorite hike for Loreto residents and visitors. It follows the arroyo so you can't get lost, but there are easy paths and more difficult paths... the way you go is up to you... it requires a bit of searching back and forth... some people like to climb the boulders and wiggle thru holes in rocks, other people like a less taxing hike. It is less that 1 mile each way, appx 1.75 miles up and back. Actually, you can keep going at the Big Rockfall where it looks like you are blocked... but that is for more advanced adventurers. Advance & Hard: If you go 8 hours all the way to the top, you will come to a pinnacle... spend the night, climb the pinnacle for sunrise, and you will see both the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortez from one spot... truely an incredible experience. November - May are the best months... if you go during rainy season, watch the weather... a flash flood will kill you.
